Who Are The Tooth Fairies?

A crazy cool group of dentistry loving, pet adoring, teaching fiends… (ok, maybe that is a little much). But nonetheless, the Tooth Fairies started as the nickname of the playful, obnoxiously optimistic, and unabashedly excited group of women that made up the dentistry/oral surgery service of BluePearl Minnesota. Before we knew it, the name Tooth Fairies simply stuck (go ahead, give us a call… ask for the tooth fairies… see who you get). Now, however, we cannot help but take the responsibility of the tooth loving name sake seriously and spend much of our time traveling and teaching in an effort to make high quality, life enhancing, thoughtful dental care for our four-legged friends (and admittedly, the occasional three-legged beast) accessible, attainable, satisfying, and dare we say, fun. And please know, even though we sound like a bunch of overwhelming extroverts, some of us are just passionate introverts so we hope to make everyone feel welcome!

Donnell Hansen, DVM DAVDC

Dr. Donnell Hansen, a Minnesota native, toured through Iowa, Minnesota, and Oklahoma for her various degrees toward board certification in veterinary dentistry/oral surgery.  In 2009, Donnell and a small group of friends joined together to form the Moxie Center (which was the first hospital to be now known as BluePearl) in Minnesota’s twin cities. She currently rotates through both the Eden Prairie and Blaine hospitals. Dr. Hansen’s special interest is maxillofacial surgery, however the truth is, she loves the whole darn gig.

To be able to help even more of our four legged friends, Dr. Hansen enjoys the opportunity to share the value of veterinary dentistry and oral health as it makes such a difference in the quality of life of the furry beasts that share our homes. What is more, providing great dental care in our hospitals not only enhances patient care, but also provides the veterinary profession with a much needed source of personal satisfaction and practice health. Although her daily life is now spent in specialty care, she also owns a family practice with her husband, a marine corps veteran and family veterinarian.

Donnell enjoys time with her family (including two very loved kids) on Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes or working a jigsaw puzzle during the cold, long Minnesota winters. She shares her home with chickens, ducks, and two four legged beasts, Crickett (a pocket pittie) and beloved giant Labrador named Goose. She may or may not have a fish tank with hatching bullheads on her kitchen counter as we speak.
